Job summary

Slate is seeking a Design Release Engineer for Steering Wheel & Frontal Airbags in the USA. You will lead engineering activities for steering wheel, driver airbag and passenger airbag programs, coordinating with internal teams and Tier 1 suppliers to meet safety and regulatory targets.

You will manage APQP documentation and ensure compliance with regulations, reporting to the Lead – Restraints Systems Engineering manager.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Design Release Engineering in Airbags and/or Steering Wheels.
• Excellent communication, team-building and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to lead teams and Tier 1 suppliers and drive technical tradeoffs with attention to detail.
• Direct working experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, NCAP, and IIHS Crash Requirements.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship not offered.

Responsibilities

• Develop functional requirements for Steering wheel and Frontal Airbags systems.
• Develop technical requirements for systems in collaboration with internal functions and Tier 1 suppliers.
• Lead design, development, release and certification with CAE, CAD, BOM, DVP&Rs, testing and regulatory reporting.
