Job summary

Ocean Associates, Inc. (OAI) seeks a Senior Analyst to assist NOAA NMFS IATC in Silver Spring, MD with complex data analysis of seafood trade programs. You will map pathways, assess traceability, and prepare reports detailing supply chains, data completeness, and regulatory contexts.

The role requires a BS in natural resources, 3 years of relevant experience or advanced degrees for substitution, and strong skills in BigQuery, Excel, R/SQL, and Looker. This is a full-time position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in a natural resources field; fisheries knowledge preferred.
• Three years of relevant experience; advanced degrees may substitute for experience.
• Experience with trade data and large data sets is required.
• Proficiency with BigQuery, Excel, R, SQL and data visualization tools such as Looker or R Studio is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide data entry and QA/QC of data products.
• Analyze seafood imports, exports, re-exports, and other data across NOAA Fisheries trade-monitoring programs.
• Map seafood pathways from harvest to U.S. import to identify traceability gaps.
• Prepare internal/external reports on priority seafood supply chains and data completeness.
• Develop reproducible workflows to evaluate data completeness and create visual summaries using BigQuery and Looker.
• Respond to inquiries related to trade data from the office or other agencies.
• Support NOAA fisheries trade-monitoring programs and economic analyses for regulatory rulemaking.
