Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Applied Mathematics with strong quantitative emphasis.
• Six (6) or more years of experience related to the task order, with ecological data experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; experience writing reports and peer‑reviewed articles.
• Strong quantitative skills with extensive experience in statistical modeling and data analysis; familiarity with R, Stan, JAGS; open science concepts.
• Ability to manage workload; work independently and on interdisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with Linux/shell scripting; interfacing with C/C++ code in a scientific modeling context.

Responsibilities

• Provide statistical analyses to inform management decisions.
• Statistically analyze spatial and temporal variability in migratory salmon processes through hydropower systems.
• Analyze and relate fish responses to environmental or ecological variables and management actions.
• Develop probabilistic mathematical and simulation models using modern statistical methods.
• Provide statistical support for study design and analysis for other researchers.
• Organize and curate ecological datasets for mark‑recapture modeling needs.
• Document and share reproducible research workflows and analytical protocols.
• Publish reports and scientific papers and present results at meetings and conferences.
• Assist with field collection of fish and environmental data as needed.
