Job summary

Peraton Labs in Maryland is seeking a poly cleared Senior Research Scientist to design, prototype, and evaluate SDR-based wireless and networking capabilities for mission-focused experiments at a customer site near College Park.

You will transform research concepts into working prototypes and collaborate with engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to solve complex RF and cyber challenges. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years with B.S. OR 4+ years with M.S. OR 2+ years with PhD in EE/CE/CS/Math/Physics; additional 4 years in lieu of B.S.
• 2+ years hands-on experience developing SDR solutions
• Strong understanding of RF, wireless, DSP, and SDR architectures
• Experience with SDR hardware such as USRP/Ettus, HackRF, BladeRF, LimeSDR
• Experience in Linux-based development environments
• Ability to develop, test, troubleshoot, and document research prototypes
• Experience with C/C++, Python, GNU Radio, MATLAB, Simulink for SDR/wireless
• Strong written and verbal communication to present to stakeholders
• US Citizenship is a requirement for this position
• This position requires an active/current TS/SCI w/ Polygraph

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, prototype, and test SDR capabilities for wireless and networking
• Research and implement signal processing, waveform, protocol, and RF techniques
• Develop SDR apps using GNU Radio, UHD/USRP, Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink
• Work with SDR platforms like USRP, Ettus, HackRF, BladeRF, LimeSDR
• Support wireless protocol research across LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, SATCOM, MANET
• Integrate SDR with Linux, containers, testbeds, and cyber platforms
• Lab and field testing, data collection, and troubleshooting RF/SDR systems
• Communicate findings via reports, briefings, and publications
