Job summary

Peraton in College Park, MD is seeking a Principal RF Research Scientist for on-site duties near College Park. The role emphasizes leading RF ML/DSP efforts, prototyping, and collaboration with government customers on mission-oriented research.

You will develop DSP algorithms, apply ML techniques to RF problems, and integrate prototypes on SDR platforms such as USRP, using GNU Radio and related tools. Mentoring and BD support are also part of the scope.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in RFML, DSP, and SDR/wireless prototyping.
• Strong RF fundamentals including sampling, modulation, interference, and link budgets.
• Hands-on Python and/or C/C++ development in SCIF environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and prototyping of RF sensing/communications solutions.
• Develop and evaluate DSP algorithms for real RF environments.
• Apply ML/DL approaches to RF problems and publish results.
• Implement prototypes on SDR platforms (USRP) using GNU Radio or similar
• Research against LTE/5G concepts and open-source waveforms/protocols
• Produce technical artifacts and contribute to publications/patents
• Interface with government customers to translate needs into R&D plans and support capture activities
