Job summary

Peraton Labs seeks a poly-cleared Senior Research Scientist to lead RF machine learning and signal processing R&D near College Park, MD. You will design, prototype, and evaluate RF/ML algorithms for wireless, spectrum, and cyber applications, collaborating with researchers and customers to deliver operation-ready capabilities.

The role emphasizes civil-military RF research, strong DSP/RF knowledge, and experience with modern ML frameworks, SDR tools, and Linux environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience with a Bachelor's degree or 4+ with a Master’s or 2+ with a PhD in a related field
• Strong background in RF ML, DSP, wireless or RF systems research
• Experience designing, training, testing ML models for RF/wireless apps
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, or similar
• Strong Python and at least one other language (C/C++, Java)
• Experience with RF data, IQ samples, SDRs or real-world datasets
• Experience in Linux-based dev environments
• Ability to develop, test, document, and demonstrate research prototypes
• US Citizenship and active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph required

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, prototyping, and evaluation of RF/ML algorithms for wireless and spectrum applications
• Research and implement ML approaches for RF signal detection, classification, and spectrum sensing
• Develop and evaluate algorithms using PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, or similar tools
• Apply DSP and RF domain knowledge to train, test, validate models on real or simulated RF data
• Design data collection, labeling, preprocessing, feature extraction, training workflows for RFML
• Develop software prototypes using Python, C/C++, MATLAB, GNU Radio
• Analyze RF signals, modulation, channel effects, and system performance
• Work with RF datasets, IQ data, SDR platforms, lab or field spectrum data
• Communicate findings via briefings, reports, whitepapers, publications
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior researchers
