Job summary

Peraton Labs seeks a Senior Research Scientist to advance network security prototypes for a Maryland-based customer. You will design, develop, and demonstrate solutions across classified and unclassified environments, combining software, networking, automation, virtualization, and cyber systems expertise.

The role requires full-time on-site work near College Park, MD, with collaboration across government leadership and technical stakeholders to shape research directions and prototype

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 10+ years with a Master's, or 8+ years with a PhD in a related technical field.
• Hands-on software development, network security research, or advanced network prototyping.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, C/C++ or similar.
• Experience with Linux-based development and network protocols.
• Experience with virtualization and cloud-native infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Vagrant).
• Experience with automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Helm, Puppet, Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and demonstrate network security prototypes for government customers.
• Develop software, scripts, tools, and test environments to demonstrate new cyber and networking capabilities.
• Build prototypes involving high-speed networks, wireless networks, cloud infrastructure, containers, and NFV.
• Design and integrate large-scale experimentation environments using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, OpenStack or similar.
• Document designs, prototype capabilities, test results, and research findings for customer briefings.
