Job summary

Peraton Labs seeks a poly cleared Senior Research Scientist to design, prototype, and evaluate SDR-based capabilities for advanced wireless and cyber experimentation in Maryland. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to move concepts to working prototypes, solving RF, signal processing, and networking challenges on Linux-based platforms.

The role involves hands-on development with GNU Radio, USRP, Python, C/C++, MATLAB, and Simulink, plus field testing and customer briefings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, 4+ years with a Master's, or 2+ years with a Ph.D. in a related field.
• 2+ years hands-on experience developing Software Defined Radio solutions
• Strong understanding of RF systems, wireless communications, DSP, and SDR architectures
• Experience with SDR hardware such as USRP/Ettus, HackRF, BladeRF, LimeSDR
• Experience working in Linux-based development environments
• Ability to develop, test, troubleshoot, and document research prototypes
• Experience developing SDR or wireless with C/C++, Python, GNU Radio, MATLAB, Simulink
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to stakeholders
• US Citizenship required; TS/SCI w/ Polygraph active/required

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, prototype, and test SDR capabilities for wireless and networking systems
• Research and implement signal processing, waveform, protocol, and RF techniques for experiments
• Develop SDR applications using Python, C/C++, GNU Radio, MATLAB, or Simulink
• Work with USRP, Ettus, HackRF, BladeRF, LimeSDR, or similar hardware
• Support wireless protocol research across LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, SATCOM, MANET, or custom waveforms
• Integrate SDR with Linux, networks, containers, testbeds, and cyber experimentation platforms
• Conduct lab and field testing, data collection, and RF system troubleshooting
• Analyze wireless signals and protocol behavior; prepare technical reports and briefings
• Present findings and prototype results to customers
