Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a 100% remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. This full-time position requires strong programming skills in C#, .NET, Java, or Python and a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.

Candidates will design and execute test plans, develop automated tests with Selenium or similar tools, and contribute to QA processes in a fast-paced federal environment. U.S.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with version control (Git, SVN).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with defect tracking tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of SQL/database validation.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans, schedules, and approaches.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walk-throughs with stakeholders and leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environments.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis of test results and resolution of issues.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Possibly perform other IT systems engineering activities as required.
• Apply technical principles and concepts in testing field.
