Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) in Chicago seeks a Senior Associate in Performance Testing to execute performance and failover testing for mission-critical systems. You will design test scenarios, run tests across AWS and on-prem, analyze results, and validate behavior during failover and disaster recovery to meet strict RTO/RPO requirements.

Ideal candidates have hands-on performance testing, scripting in Python/Java, and experience with cloud/hybrid architectures, CI/CD, and APM tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience in performance testing with LoadRunner, JMeter, or similar tools.
• 2+ years designing and executing failover/disaster recovery testing in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Proficiency in LoadRunner scripting and test scenario creation, or strong hands-on with JMeter/Gatling.
• Scripting in Python or Java for test automation.
• Experience with AWS cloud environments and cloud-native performance considerations.
• Knowledge of Kafka, producer/consumer testing.
• SQL knowledge for test data and validation in relational databases.
• Experience with test automation tools and performance regression frameworks.
• Familiarity with APM/observability platforms (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab).
• Proficiency with Linux CLI and basic Linux OS concepts.
• Experience with Jira, Zephyr, SpiraTest for test management.
• Experience testing multi-region architectures or distributed systems.
• Experience in the Options/Futures or highly regulated, low-latency environments

Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance tests using LoadRunner, JMeter, and Gatling across AWS and on-prem environments.
• Create, maintain, and enhance LoadRunner scripts, test scenarios, and script repositories.
• Analyze performance test results to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities; generate findings reports.
• Develop and maintain performance test automation scripts (Python, Java) and integrate into CI/CD pipelines.
• Create parameterized test data and document test procedures, expected results, and baselines.
• Collaborate with DevOps to set up and validate multi-region test environments.
• Correlate performance results with APM/monitoring platforms and generate dashboards.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams on performance requirements.
• Execute failover and disaster recovery testing across multiple regions and environments.
• Validate RTO/RPO metrics and post-failover performance against SLAs and regulatory requirements.
• Test multi-region deployments for replication lag and data consistency.
• Document and present test results, trends, and findings to QE leadership.
