Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Scrum Master for Cloud & Infrastructure Transformation in San Francisco. You will lead Agile delivery across large-scale infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and platform engineering initiatives, coaching teams and driving best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years as a Scrum Master in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience leading Infrastructure, Cloud Migration, Platform Engineering, or Digital Transformation programs.

Job Title: Senior Scrum Master - Cloud & Infrastructure Transformation

Job Location: Hybrid [2-3 days] - San Francisco, CA, USA

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master - Cloud & Infrastructure Transformation to lead Agile delivery across large-scale infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and platform engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Scrum and Agile methodologies, a strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and cloud technologies, and a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams in complex enterprise environments.

This role will be responsible for driving Agile best practices, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring successful delivery of infrastructure and cloud transformation programs. The successful candidate will act as a servant leader, coach, and facilitator while collaborating closely with engineering, operations, security, architecture, and leadership teams.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $90,000 to $113,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

In this role, you will

• Lead Agile delivery for large-scale Infrastructure Transformation, Cloud Migration, Platform Engineering, and DevOps programs, ensuring successful execution of strategic initiatives.

• Serve as the Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams, driving adherence to Scrum principles, Agile best practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Facilitate all Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement, and Release Planning sessions.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Teams, Security Teams, Infrastructure Teams, and Operations Teams to prioritize work and align delivery objectives.

• Coordinate and manage dependencies across multiple cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless execution of project deliverables and timely resolution of impediments.

• Coach teams, stakeholders, and leadership on Agile frameworks, servant leadership principles, team maturity, and Agile transformation initiatives.

• Utilize Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps (ADO) to manage backlogs, user stories, sprint execution, release tracking, reporting, and Agile documentation.

• Monitor, analyze, and report key Agile metrics including sprint velocity, burndown charts, team capacity, delivery predictability, risks, blockers, and overall program health.

• Partner closely with customers, business stakeholders, architects, and senior leadership to provide transparent communication, executive reporting, and delivery status updates.

• Support cloud adoption and infrastructure modernization programs by working with Microsoft Azure-based environments, platform operations teams, and DevOps practitioners.

• Identify risks, issues, and roadblocks proactively, driving mitigation plans and facilitating rapid resolution to maintain project timelines and delivery commitments.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while promoting Agile excellence across cloud, infrastructure, and engineering teams.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• 8+ years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years serving as a Scrum Master in enterprise environments.

• Proven experience leading Infrastructure, Cloud Migration, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Digital Transformation programs.

• Strong expertise in Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe principles.

• In-depth understanding of Microsoft Azure services, cloud operations, infrastructure management, and DevOps methodologies.

• Experience managing complex dependencies across multiple technical teams.

• Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.

• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.

• Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to engage with senior leadership, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Cloud Migration, Infrastructure Modernization, SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering programs.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern cloud operating models.

• Exposure to enterprise-scale transformation initiatives within highly regulated environments.

• Knowledge of Agile scaling frameworks such as SAFe, LeSS, or Scrum@Scale.
