Job summary
Spear D Construction is seeking an experienced Screed Operator / Paver Operator – Tech III to join our asphalt paving team in Albuquerque. You will operate asphalt pavers and screed equipment, control grade and thickness, and ensure high-quality surfaces on fast-paced projects.

Qualifications
- Experience as Asphalt Screed Operator or Paver Operator on heavy equipment.
- Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and elevations.
- Knowledge of asphalt materials, temperatures, compaction, and paving techniques.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt pavers and screed equipment to ensure proper placement and smoothness.
- Set up and adjust screed controls, extensions, grade settings.
- Maintain consistent asphalt flow and material distribution.
- Monitor mat thickness, temperature, texture, and paving quality.
- Coordinate with Foreman and crew to maintain production.
- Read plans and follow grade stakes for paving work.
- Identify and correct paving irregularities and defects.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
