Job summary

Moderna is seeking an accomplished Scientist to lead the development of targeted lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations within a fast-paced, cross-functional R&D organization. You will advance LNP science, engineer delivery systems beyond the liver, and leverage AI/ML-enabled approaches to accelerate discovery and data-driven decision-making across multidisciplinary programs.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a related discipline with 2+ years of experience.
• Deep expertise in LNP design, formulation, and physicochemical characterization.
• Experience with high-throughput formulation workflows, automation, and AI/ML data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Drive research on targeted, extra-hepatic LNP delivery from hypothesis to in-vivo evaluation.
• Develop and optimize LNP self-assembly, payload loading, and surface modifications for tissue specificity.
• Leverage high-throughput formulation, automation, and AI/ML data analysis to accelerate discovery and data-informed decisions.
• Design and execute experiments; communicate results to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Apply advanced physicochemical/biophysical characterization methods (DLS, CryoEM, SAXS, ITC, NMR, nFCM).
• Maintain rigorous electronic lab notebooks and SOPs; document studies per company standards.
• Provide scientific leadership and mentorship to researchers and collaborate with external partners.
