Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Scientist in the Biotherapeutic and Genetic Medicine group to advance siRNA design with enhanced knockdown and reduced off-target liabilities. The role combines computational biology, genomics, and transcriptomic integration to generate actionable insights for safer RNA-based therapeutics.

The candidate will build pipelines, apply ML to screening data, collaborate on NGS workflows, and report findings to cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in computational biology, genomics, RNA biology or related field.
0-4+ years (PhD), 8-10+ years (MS), or 10-12+ years (BS) biotech/pharma experience.
Proficiency in Python and/or R with reproducible workflows.
Experience supporting off-target analysis and risk assessment for RNAi-related modalities.
Strong background in NGS data analysis and transcriptomics.

Responsibilities

Establish, implement, and improve pipelines for siRNA design using genomic, transcriptomic, and RNA structure data.
Develop ML models to improve siRNA sequence selection from screening data.
Collaborate on NGS library preparation for off-target analysis and interpret transcriptomic signals.
Develop and maintain reusable analysis tools and pipelines in Python/R; produce reports and summaries.
Work with cross-functional teams to translate findings into actionable biological insights.
Stay current on RNAi biology, off-target analysis, and computational methods.
