Job summary

AbbVie’s Biotherapeutic and Genetic Medicine department seeks a Scientist to develop and operate a high-throughput siRNA screening platform, focusing on automation-enabled screening workflows and data analysis. The role collaborates with platform and program teams to build scalable workflows across multiple therapeutic areas.

The successful candidate will lead automation-driven experiments, optimize RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, and RNA-seq library prep, and drive sequencing-based expression

Qualifications

BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or related field with 7+ (BS) or 5+ (MS) years of industry experience.
Hands-on experience with lab automation and high-throughput screening workflows.
Experience with RNA extraction and RT-qPCR assay development and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with NGS workflows for library construction and gene expression profiling.
Experience with siRNA screening, oligonucleotide therapeutics, or RNA biology preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead execution of high-throughput siRNA screening workflows using automated liquid handling and other systems.
Develop and optimize automated sample prep workflows including RNA extraction and RT-qPCR.
Design experiments to evaluate siRNA activity, potency, and selectivity.
Establish data analysis workflows for screening datasets with QC and normalization.
Drive NGS-based strategies for gene expression profiling with automation.
Partner with cross-functional teams to support analysis of large datasets.
Contribute to standardization and documentation of workflows and protocols.
Identify issues and implement solutions to improve throughput and reproducibility.
Present results to project teams and contribute to strategy discussions.
Mentor junior scientists and support a collaborative lab environment.
