Job description

SystImmune is a leading and well-funded clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company located in Bothell, WA and Princeton, NJ. It specializes in developing innovative cancer treatments using its established drug development platforms, focusing on bi-specific, multi-specific antibodies, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). SystImmune has multiple assets in various stages of clinical trials for solid tumor and hematologic indications. Alongside ongoing clinical trials. SystImmune has a robust preclinical pipeline of potential cancer therapeutics in the discover and IND-enabling stages, representing cutting-edge biologics development. We offer an opportunity for you to learn and grow while making significant contributions to the company's success.

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Antigen Science team, where you will participate in antigen strategy and membrane protein work in support of target discovery, assessment, validation, and tractability. You will be a technical leader in the production and characterization of challenging membrane protein targets, including G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), and will help translate biological hypotheses into well-behaved, functionally relevant reagents that drive therapeutic discovery programs.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to target discovery, assessment, and validation efforts for membrane protein targets, with a focus on GPCRs, including evaluating target tractability from a protein science perspective.
  • Design and execute antigen strategies, including construct design, protein purification, and format selection, to maximize the probability of generating useful binders and functional data.
  • Engineer membrane protein antigens and alternative antigen formats (e.g., nanodiscs, liposomes, stabilized conformations, and cell-based presentation) to support diverse discovery platforms.
  • Design and implement purification and quality control workflows for detergent-solubilized and alternative antigen formats, ensuring high purity, protein integrity, and native-like conformation.
  • Partner closely with antibody discovery, antibody engineering, and assay development colleagues to align antigen design with program goals.
  • Author technical reports, contribute to scientific publications and patents, and present findings to cross-functional teams and leadership.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in protein science, biologics discovery, or a closely related area.
  • Demonstrated expertise in membrane protein expression, purification, and stabilization.
  • Hands-on experience with alternative antigen formats, including nanodiscs, liposomes, and other detergent-free systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of protein biophysics and analytical techniques for characterizing antigen folding, stability, and homogeneity.
  • Familiarity with target validation and tractability assessment in a drug discovery or biologics context.
  • Proven ability to independently design experiments, troubleshoot complex problems, and deliver results on program timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting antibody discovery campaigns using membrane protein antigens.
  • Experience with GPCR pharmacology, signaling assays, or conformational-state characterization.
  • Experience characterizing protein quality and conformational integrity using biophysical and biochemical methods (e.g., SEC-MALS, DSF, SPR/BLI, mass photometry, circular dichroism).
  • Publication record in relevant peer-reviewed journals.
Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s level qualifications, experience, and skills.

While most offers typically fall within the low to mid-point of the range, we may extend an offer toward the higher end for exceptional candidates whose background and expertise exceeds the requirements of the role.

  • 100% paid employee premiums for medical/dental/vision, also STD, LTD, a 401(k) plan with a 50% company match of up to 3% and a vesting schedule of only 5 years, 15 PTO days per year, sick leave, plus 11 paid holidays and MORE.

We offer an opportunity for you to learn and grow while making significant contributions to the company’s success.

SystImmune is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome diverse talent and encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
