Job summary

Apheris is seeking a large molecule specialist to guide antibody engineering, structural biology, and developability within its AI-driven drug-discovery networks. You will shape scientific workflows and collaborate closely with ML and engineering teams to ensure biologically sound modeling strategies.

The role emphasizes scientific credibility, partnership with pharma, and translating biology into actionable computational plans without writing training code. Remote-first with flexible location.

Qualifications

• PhD, MSc, or equivalent experience in structural biology, antibody engineering, immunology or related biologics discipline.
• Hands-on experience in antibody design, developability, or binder discovery.
• Some exposure to applying AI/ML to biological problems; not required to build models, but to contribute to workflows and assess outputs.
• Ability to translate biological reasoning into technical requirements and collaborate with ML/engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define the scientific workflow, evaluation strategy, and benchmarking for large molecule programs including antibody-antigen co-folding, binder prediction, and developability.
• Define user requirements for large molecule workflows so that builds align with how scientists work.
• Drive adoption of large molecule models with pharma partners and help identify suitable programs and use cases.
• Translate scientific/biological requirements from pharma partners into concrete inputs for ML/engineering teams.
• Review model outputs and evaluation results against known biology; flag inconsistencies.
• Represent Apheris's scientific perspective in partner conversations across large molecule networks.
• Stay current on the large molecule AI/ML landscape to inform modeling approaches.
• Work with product, ML, and engineering to ensure scientific requirements shape the roadmap.
