Job summary

Merrick & Company, an employee-owned firm, seeks an experienced Science and Safety Professional for a Manhattan, KS client site. The role spans laboratory planning, hazard assessment, biocontainment, and regulatory compliance across Academia, Public Health, Healthcare, and Biotechnology markets.

The Senior Scientist will guide safety programs, support regulatory filings, and coordinate with architects and engineers on high-containment lab design and operations. Up to 50% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in a science or safety-related field from an accredited program.
• Minimum of five years of experience in government, academic, and healthcare facility and laboratory operations, chemical, biological, and physical hazard safety.
• Experience with CL/BSL-3 or higher containment.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support projects related to laboratory planning, programming, and operations.
• Support regulatory compliance and documentation to aid registrations and permits.
• Prepare complex studies, reports, plans, and specifications for client projects.
• Interface with Merrick team members to ensure project quality and adherence to budgets.

Education

Master’s degree or higher in a science or safety-related field from an accredited program
