Job summary

L’Oréal is seeking a Senior Scientist II in the Professional Skin Management Application Domain to own the technical strategy of multiple skincare projects, directing formulation innovation and robust delivery systems. You will collaborate with upstream R&I and downstream development teams in a fast-paced matrix environment.

The role requires advanced degrees and 2+ years (PhD) or 5–9+ years (MS/Bachelor) in skin formulation, with leadership, DoE experience, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Biochemistry, Biological Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Surface and Interface Science, Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
• 2+ years (PhD) or 5-9+ years (Master's/Bachelor's) in skin formulation development with leadership.
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulation and skin biology; expertise in stability and delivery systems.
• Applied research mindset with ownership and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Experience with digital tools and data-driven methodologies (DoE, predictive modeling).
• Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects in a matrix organization.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder presentation skills; onsite work in US required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of professional skin formulations across multiple projects.
• Own the technical approach and strategic direction for active stability and skin delivery.
• Leverage skin biology and ingredient chemistry to plan experiments.
• Mentor junior scientists and guide cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with innovation partners and other departments to deliver results.
• Promote digital transformation and DoE-driven formulation optimization.
• Contribute to the domain's technical roadmap and priorities.
