Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Chemical/Bio Engineer to join the R&D Process Engineering team in North Chicago. The role focuses on designing scalable manufacturing processes for drug substances and products, spanning small molecules to ADCs.

You will lead process development, drive scale-up initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable robust manufacturing and regulatory readiness. The ideal candidate has strong lab process development experience, a track record of applying modeling

Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in Chemical/Bio Engineering with 10+ (BS), 8+ (MS), or 0+ (PhD) years of relevant industrial experience.
Strong problem-solving ability and collaborative teamwork across disciplines.
Experience with laboratory process development, scale-up, and support for regulatory filings.
GxP knowledge and compliance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop robust manufacturing processes across development phases.
Lead development and characterization of new assets and scale-up to pilot plant.
Establish, communicate, and execute research plans; author technical documents for filings.
Collaborate with chemists, analytical chemists, process development engineers, pilot plant engineers, and regulatory specialists.
Prepare publications and present at scientific conferences.
