Job summary

The University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Senior Scientist in the Division of Animal Sciences to lead development and application of reproductive and genome editing technologies in cattle and swine. You will design, execute, and manage research projects while supporting daily lab operations and training efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area with at least 4 years of experience required.
  • Masters/PhD in biology, animal science, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute research projects across the laboratory.
  • Perform daily laboratory maintenance and support ongoing research activities.
  • Conduct molecular biology techniques including PCR, Western Blotting, real-time PCR, cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation.
  • Perform genome editing in cattle and pig cells and micromanipulation of oocytes and embryos.
  • Produce bovine and porcine in vitro embryos via m vitro maturation, fertilization and culture.
  • Support animal care activities per approved protocols.
  • Assist in SOP development, implementation and compliance monitoring.
  • Train student workers in laboratory techniques and safety.
  • Summarize study outcomes to form manuscripts.
