Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician to join the New Jersey Facilities team. The role requires 7+ years of HVAC experience to maintain safe, comfortable educational environments across Newark facilities.

You will inspect, repair, and modify HVAC systems, manage small projects, and coordinate with vendors. The position demands after-hours availability and strong communication with school staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Significant journeyman-level HVAC experience with knowledge of applicable codes.
• Experience with commercial heating projects, boilers, and furnaces.
• Ability to read as-built plans and construction drawings.
• Proficiency with BMS systems and procurement of parts.
• EPA refrigerants handling and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC systems across buildings.
• Lead small HVAC projects and coordinate with vendors and senior staff.
• Maintain records via the work order system and meet project timelines.
• Respond to after-hours campus emergencies and communicate with stakeholders.
