Job summary

Uncommon Schools in New Jersey seeks a Senior HVAC Technician with at least seven years of relevant experience to join the NJ Facilities Team. You will inspect, maintain, repair and modify HVAC systems, lead small projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with vendors to meet timelines and budgets.

You will ensure safe, comfortable educational facilities, coordinate with senior team members, and communicate effectively with school staff on HVAC issues and solutions.

Qualifications

• Significant journeyman level HVAC experience with code knowledge.
• Strong background in commercial heating projects, boilers, and furnaces.
• Ability to read construction drawings, specs, and manuals.
• Advanced knowledge of BMS and system operations.
• EPA refrigerant handling certification and valid license a plus.
• Ability to work with vendors and manage projects within budget.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC systems across NJ facilities.
• Lead minor HVAC projects and coordinate larger initiatives with teams and outside vendors.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure quality control on all work.
• Communicate with stakeholders and maintain accurate records in work order systems.
• Respond to campus emergencies after hours as needed.
