Job summary

Uncommon Schools is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician to join the New Jersey Facilities team. The role requires at least seven years of HVAC experience to maintain and improve school HVAC systems across multiple buildings in Newark and nearby areas.

The technician will oversee minor and larger projects, coordinate with outside consultants, mentor junior staff, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time completion within budget. A strong customer-service mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Significant journeyman HVAC experience and code compliance knowledge.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical specs.
• Experience with readouts from BMS systems and energy management.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, and modify HVAC systems in multiple buildings.
• Lead minor HVAC projects and supervise work by vendors.
• Coordinate with facilities team for project timelines and budgets.
• Mentor junior staff and communicate with stakeholders.
