Job summary

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is seeking a School Health Assistant II to support student health services in a full-time capacity. Under supervision, you will assist with basic health care, maintain the health room, and respond to student needs.

Responsibilities include first aid, fever checks, medication handling per guidelines, record keeping, and coordinating with families and staff for health services.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma and ability to read, comprehend and apply written instructions; high degree of verbal skill.

Responsibilities

• Administers emergency first aid to ill or injured students.
• Takes temperature and allows students to rest in health room as needed; observes symptoms.
• May administer medications only with proper approvals and parental/physician/health staff authorization.
• Contacts parents/guardians about health concerns and injuries.
• May contact ambulance services in emergencies.
• Performs health screening tests and records health information.
• Maintains health room cleanliness and supplies; provides health information to staff.
