Job summary

Qualifications

• Physically and mentally capable of performing tasks.
• Must have HS Diploma or GED.
• Successful passage of the State Competency Test for Custodians or holds the Custodian classification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain appearance, repair and general care of school grounds.
• Operate small heating plant.
• Keep buildings and grounds clean and free of refuse.
• Care, maintenance and protection of buildings, contents and grounds.
• Maintain high standard of personal cleanliness and be courteous to pupils and staff.
• Notify supervisor promptly if unable to work.
• Supervise heating system and ensure proper temperatures.
• Inspect for fire hazards and report needs for major repairs.
• Keep doors/windows locked when not in use.
• Keep premises free of hazards and ensure safe conditions.
