Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Pullman, WA is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with a SCADA focus. You will lead the design, integration, and implementation of advanced SCADA solutions, serving as a technical advisor to customers and project teams.

Responsibilities include HMI development, RTU/PLC/IED integration, and configuring networks and communications protocols to support critical infrastructure. Travel as needed and collaboration with engineering colleagues are essential.

Qualifications

BS in Electrical/Computer/Automation/Control Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
Typically 10+ years of SCADA/industrial control systems experience.
Experience with SCADA architecture, HMI development, historian systems, and alarm management.
Experience configuring RTUs/PLCs/IEDs and industrial communications.
Familiar with DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, OPC UA, ICCP/TASE.2.
Strong troubleshooting, presentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, configure, and support SCADA systems for utility, industrial, and critical infra.
Develop HMI applications for operator interaction with monitored systems.
Configure and integrate RTUs, PLCs, IEDs into SCADA environments.
Develop interfaces using industry protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC UA, etc.).
Participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
Design SCADA networks (Ethernet, serial, fiber, radio, WAN).
Support DMS/microgrid applications and real-time dashboards.
