Job summary
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to join the Technology & Development team in Engineering Services. You will develop protection and automation solutions for critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
A typical day includes RTAC/PLC programming, SCADA package implementation, design of LANs for utility and industrial applications, and leading automation projects while maintaining high QA/QC standards.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in electrical engineering or relevant discipline.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems or industrial automation.
- Autonomous and self-sufficient; effective communication.
- Willingness to travel 25% of the time.
- 12+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain expertise in SEL protection and automation systems.
- RTAC/PLC programming and checkouts.
- Program and apply SCADA packages (Wonderware, Copadata Zenon, Citect, RTAC HMI).
- Quality assurance and quality control checks.
- Commissioning (25%+ of the time).
- Leading and supporting automation projects.
