Job summary

Arizona Public Service - APS is looking for a Controls Engineer II / III / Senior to support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and optimize control systems to ensure safe and reliable operations. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, experience with utility-scale solar, and understanding SCADA and control architectures. Candidates must reside in Arizona and be willing to work hybrid with up to 40% in-person interaction.

Qualifications

• Experience with utility-scale solar and/or BESS control systems.
• Knowledge of inverter controls, EMS systems, and grid interconnection requirements.
• Understanding of NERC/CIP considerations for control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, integrate, and optimize control systems.
• Diagnose issues quickly to maintain operational integrity.
• Develop and maintain plant control logic and SCADA systems.

Skills

Utility-scale solar and/or BESS control systems

Hands-on experience with SEL RTACs

Inverter controls knowledge

SCADA systems and monitoring/control architectures

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related applied science
