Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior Thermal Engineer in Irvine, CA, to lead hardware thermal design from concept through ground-tested validation. You will act as the SME, mentor junior engineers, and automate design workflows to shorten cycles.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 5+ years in Space, Thermal Desktop expertise, hand calculation proficiency, and SolidWorks experience with eligibility for Secret/TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
• 5+ years in Space industry as a Thermal Engineer.
• Expertise with Thermal Desktop.
• Proficiency in hand calculations.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Ability to obtain Secret and/or TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal design of hardware from initial layout to validation with ground tests.
• Consult as SME in Thermal Analysis across disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Automate workflow to reduce design cycle investment.
• Build and control system-level thermal models.
• Execute thermal design trades to maximize mission performance.
• Select testing equipment and facilities.
• Design and execute TVAC testing, including thermal balances.
• Perform hand calculations and compare with models.
• Produce quality documentation to reduce miss-rate and improve efficiency.
