Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead Thermal Control Systems on multiple space vehicle programs. You will manage design, analysis, testing, and production troubleshooting as the Responsible Engineer, collaborating with senior staff to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, developing technical documentation, and interfacing with customers and contract teams to meet long-range objectives. A U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience) or master's with 10+ years experience.
• Typically, 12+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Thermal Control Systems on aerospace platforms in space.
• Ability to provide solutions to unusually complex technical problems requiring ingenuity.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and analysis for multiple programs and complex space vehicle Thermal Control Systems.
• Serve as Responsible Engineer (RE) and manage system and component design, analysis, development, and integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and reports for project objectives.
• Represent the organization as the prime technical TCS contact on contracts and projects.
