Job summary

Rocket Lab, based in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Senior Spacecraft Thermal Engineer I to lead thermal design, analysis, testing and validation for space vehicles. You will model, analyze, and improve thermal performance, collaborating with test and design engineers to feed design decisions.

The role requires 5+ years in thermal engineering on spacecraft programs, a Bachelor's in engineering, and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of thermal engineering experience.
• Experience with spacecraft or satellite development programs.
• U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete thermal modeling and analysis of vehicles.
• Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance, resources, risk, cost and schedule.
• Identify and resolve thermal design, acceptance and performance issues for components and assemblies.
• Design and execute thermal tests for space vehicle components and assemblies.
• Perform thermal model validation using test and flight data.
• Liaise with program and engineering staff on thermal design and test matters.
