Job summary

BlackSky in Seattle is seeking a Senior Satellite Launch Manager to drive launch campaigns, coordinate with providers, and manage schedules, risks, and test results across hardware and software. This role is hybrid, based in our Seattle office with travel up to 50% to Tukwila and launch sites.

You will lead contracting, training programs, and on-site launch leadership, interfacing with engineering and procurement to meet milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of direct project management experience or related experience.
• Experience with Space/Satellite Launch.
• Experience working with complex hardware and integrated software systems.
• Experience with launch providers as a mission manager or launch integration lead.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to support launch activities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full scope of launch contracting, documents and scheduling.
• Develop integrated plans and schedules to support testing and artifacts for launch.
• Own daily tasking and deconfliction of activities within launch responsibilities.
• Develop a training program for team members covering roles, procedures and best practices.
• Support the overall campaign as the onsite launch lead representative.
• Grow relationships with launch providers and track longer term opportunities.
• Identify risks to launch schedule and implement mitigations.
• Lead gate processes for satellite buy-off for flight.
• Interface with engineering to improve subsystems for better schedule performance.
• Track action items across engineering and procurement and maintain logs.
