Job summary

BlackSky, a real-time intelligence company, seeks a Senior Image Processing Engineer in the Seattle area to design, build, and maintain an image processing pipeline turning raw pixels into value-added imagery products.

You will work on image registration, photogrammetry, feature extraction, and quality enhancement, with a focus on low-latency processing and reliability across production systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years developing image processing algorithms.
• 5+ years developing software in Python.
• 3+ years working with an operational imaging system.
• Strong math foundation for algorithm development and data processing.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi-task environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms to process raw pixel values into imagery products.
• Maintain algorithms and tools throughout their lifecycle, including in commercial operations.
• Develop tools to monitor and maintain image quality and metrics.
• Collaborate across the organization to improve imaging operations and define new products.
• Support launch and operations of new satellites and calibration activities, sometimes after-hours.
