Job summary

BlackSky is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the newly established Product Insights team, delivering high-value insights via the BlackSky platform and enabling customers to leverage imagery without external vendors.

As the manager, you will set technical strategy, guide hosting architectures, and drive reliability across platforms while collaborating with imagery, product, and partner teams. This role supports remote candidates with offices in Herndon, VA or Seattle, WA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including distributed, autonomous, or mission-critical systems.
• At least 2 years in engineering people management or technical leadership.
• 2+ years leading high-performing engineering teams with hiring, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience designing and building scalable production software solutions and architectures.

Responsibilities

• Build and retain a high-performing engineering team focused on product hosting and platform delivery.
• Set technical strategy and roadmap for the Product Insights team.
• Lead design and implementation of new product hosting architectures, including pipeline execution and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, platform, AI/analytics, imagery, and partner teams to accelerate readiness.
