Job summary

BlackSky seeks a Senior Image Processing Engineer to develop processing algorithms and to build and maintain the image processing pipeline that converts raw pixels into imagery products with low latency and high accuracy.

You will collaborate across the organization to improve imaging operations, support new satellites and contribute to production deployments. A strong mathematical background and experience with Python/C++ are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Astronomy, Physics, Computer Science or related engineering fields
• Strong mathematical base in algorithm development and data processing
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Motivation to self-teach and thrive on challenging problems

Responsibilities

• Develop the algorithms and tools to process raw pixel values into imagery products.
• Maintain those algorithms and tools throughout their operational life cycle, particularly in commercial operations.
• Develop tools to monitor and maintain image quality and related metrics.
• Collaborate across the organization to improve imaging operations and define new imagery products and capabilities.
• Support launch and early operations of new satellites and related calibration activities.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
