Job summary

BlackSky seeks an Engineering Manager for Product Insights to lead a new team responsible for hosting, integrating, and delivering turnkey analytics within the BlackSky platform. You will drive architecture, partner integrations, and reliable production pipelines, guiding cross-functional teams across imagery, platform, and AI/analytics to accelerate time-to-market.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software engineering, 2+ years in leadership, and strong cloud experience with AWS services,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, incl. distributed systems.
• 2+ years in people management or technical leadership.
• 2+ years leading high-performing engineering teams including hiring and mentoring.
• Experience designing scalable production software solutions.
• Hands-on with AWS services (EKS, S3, EC2, Aurora/RDS, SQS, SNS, Batch).
• Excellent communication bridging technical and business teams.
• U.S. citizen may be required for some programs.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team for product hosting and integrations.
• Set technical strategy and roadmap for the Product Insights team.
• Lead design and implementation of new hosting architectures and pipelines.
• Collaborate across product, platform, AI/analytics, imagery, and partner teams.
• Identify and remove cross-team roadblocks to product delivery.
• Maintain deep technical involvement through code reviews and architecture decisions.
• Foster continuous improvement and ownership of product reliability.
• Identify risks and opportunities to accelerate delivery with new flows or integrations.
• Support sprint planning and roadmap development with product leadership.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
