Job summary

BlackSky seeks a Senior Image Processing Engineer to design, build, and maintain the image processing pipeline that converts raw pixels into usable imagery products. The role centers on image-to-image registration, photogrammetry, feature extraction and quality enhancement.

Remote candidates will be considered, with preference for those near the Seattle, WA office. You will collaborate across teams to ensure high accuracy, low latency processing for massive image datasets from satellites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum five years developing image processing algorithms.
• Minimum five years developing software in Python.
• Minimum three years working with an operational imaging system.
• Strong math background in algorithms, data processing and uncertainty.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, multi-task environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms and tools to process raw pixel values into imagery products.
• Maintain algorithms and tools throughout their life cycle, especially in commercial operations.
• Develop tools to monitor image quality and related metrics.
• Collaborate across the organization to improve imaging operations and product capabilities.
• Support launch and early operations of new satellites and calibration activities (after-hours possible).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
