Job summary

KBR, Inc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the software baseline across multiple contracts. The role spans UI, middleware, and backend services, with emphasis on SATCOM systems, distributed architectures, and mission-critical software.

The candidate will work on React/TypeScript frontends and Go/Java/C#/Python backends, integrating real-time data from diverse sources and operating in austere environments.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI clearance is a requirement.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong TypeScript and JavaScript expertise.
• Experience building production React applications.
• Backend services and APIs with GoLang or similar language.
• Experience with MongoDB/SQLite databases.
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, data, and deployment concerns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software improvements on a fast-paced R&D project focusing on local SATCOM RF awareness.
• Triage defects and design improvements for operational SATCOM ground systems.
• Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces using React, TypeScript, JavaScript.
• Extend open architecture to enable cross-system compatibility and extensibility.
• Develop backend APIs and services using GoLang, Java, C#, Python.
• Integrate real-time data from tracking, sensor, communications, environmental, and situational awareness systems.
• Design and optimize client-side and server-side data flows for real-time and historical geospatial data.
• Work with MongoDB and SQLite databases.
• Build software for disconnected, degraded, and austere environments.
• Improve performance, observability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and planning.
• Create automated tests and maintain type-checking, linting, build, and release quality gates.
• Collaborate with product owners, domain experts, operators, and other engineers.
