Job summary

The Principal Software Engineer at Ahold Delhaize USA is a senior technical expert who designs and builds highly complex software solutions while shaping engineering standards and guiding teams across products and platforms.

You will lead the hands‑on integration engineering for ADUSA's SAP transformation, designing enterprise integrations with SAP Integration Suite (BTP), MuleSoft, APIs, ETL tools, and event‑driven patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of work experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern software design, development, and testing.
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments and DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a user-focused mindset.
• Demonstrated experience leading SAP integration initiatives within large-scale transformations.
• Advanced hands-on experience with SAP Integration Suite on SAP BTP, MuleSoft, and other ETL tools.
• Strong expertise in API design, development, and enterprise integration architecture.
• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding solution design while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support enterprise software solutions.
• Lead analysis, design, and code reviews for major components.
• Develop production-ready code and automated tests.
• Support upgrade planning and technical debt management.
• Implement automation strategies and CI/CD maturity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into designs.
• Monitor performance and perform root-cause analysis.
• Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across teams.
• Support urgent incidents as needed and lead integrations across SAP and non-SAP platforms.
