Job summary

Mashreq in New York is seeking a Sanctions Team Lead to oversee sanctions screening, alerts review, and investigations for correspondent banking and cross-border payments. The role primarily covers the night shift (11:00 PM to 7:00 AM) with rotation to the day shift (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) as needed.

You will lead Analysts, ensure well-documented dispositions, and manage escalations while collaborating with the Sanctions Head, Payments Operations, and Compliance to maintain a robust sanctions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CAMS/CGSS preferred.
• 5–8 years of sanctions/compliance or related experience.
• Minimum 2 years in supervisory or team leadership.
• Experience with OFAC regulations and sanctions investigations.
• Experience managing escalations and complex investigations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex sanctions alerts and potential sanctions matches.
• Conduct enhanced reviews of higher-risk transactions, customers, counterparties, and financial institutions.
• Review investigations involving SDNs, blocked persons, comprehensive sanctions programs, sectoral sanctions, high-risk jurisdictions, and sanctioned vessels.
• Escalate potential true matches, blocked property matters, or OFAC-reportable matters to the Sanctions Manager.
• Assist with sanctions-related investigations and regulatory reporting requirements.
