Alvarez & Marsal in Chicago seeks an experienced Sales & Use Tax professional to support reverse audits, tax planning, and process improvements. You will prepare research memorandums, collaborate with client teams, and contribute to business development while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in sales & use tax at a public accounting or consulting firm, with strong writing and analytical skills, and proficiency in Vertex and SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and relevant professional certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in a sales & use tax practice at a public accounting or large consulting firm.
• Strong writing, analytical, research, Excel, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Vertex tax software and SAP (ERP system).

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical research memorandums for internal sources and clients, with review from managers.
• Assist in reverse audits, controversy matters, tax planning initiatives, and disclosure agreements.
• Develop client relationships and collaborate with internal engagement teams.
• Support business development through marketing materials, proposals, and client deliverables.
• Research tax regulations, file obligations, and maintain audit documentation.
• Conduct multi-state sales & use tax research and summarize findings for stakeholders.
• Coordinate multi-state tax matters related to incentives and revenue streams.
