Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal is seeking a Sales & Use Tax professional to support a range of tax planning, research, and compliance initiatives for clients in the United States. The role focuses on reverse audits, controversy matters, and process improvement within a dynamic consulting environment.

Ideal candidates will have a BA in Accounting, professional tax certifications, and 3+ years in public accounting or large consulting firms. Expertise with Vertex and SAP is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• CMI certification, CPA, JD or LLM are preferred or in process.
• 3+ years of experience in a sales & use tax practice at a public accounting or big consulting firm.
• Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and detailed technical research memorandums for internal sources and clients with guidance from managers and senior team members
• Assist in reverse audits, controversy matters, tax planning initiatives and voluntary disclosure agreements
• Develop relationships with clients and internal teams to enable effective collaboration
• Participate in business development; prepare marketing materials, proposals and client deliverables
• Support compliance with sales and use tax regulations by researching issues, filing obligations, and identifying gaps
• Maintain audit documentation and provide support on audits, due diligence engagements, and special projects
• Conduct multi-state sales & use tax research on taxability, sourcing and nexus, and summarize findings
