Job summary

Certified Site Safety of NY LLC is seeking a qualified Safety Officer (EHSO) to support NYC Transit, Metro-North Rail and LI Railroad construction projects across the NYC area. You will ensure field activities meet contract and regulatory safety standards, serve as the on-site authority, and oversee daily operations with documentation to back compliance and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline.
• 10+ years in railroad health and safety compliance; NYC Transit/MTA/LI Railroad experience preferred.
• Must hold CSP, CIH, or CHST certification.

Responsibilities

• Field Oversight: perform daily site inspections to ensure contractor conformance with plans, safety rules, and specs.
• Reporting & Documentation: prepare Daily Inspection Reports (DIRs) with workforce, work performed and quantities for payments.
• Financial Oversight: review Time & Material records for cost transparency and accountability.
• Project Tracking: use client systems to monitor progress and support controls.
• Stakeholder Coordination: liaise among project owners, contractors, utilities, and regulators.
• Safety Leadership: enforce site safety, environmental regs, and NYC/State requirements.
