Job summary

OSHA Staff Safe / AAA Safety Consultants is hiring a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for rail construction projects with MTA involvement. The role requires strong construction safety background, rail environment experience, and proficiency with OSHA regulations and MTA protocols.

The SSHO will promote a safe work environment, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct hazard assessments, lead safety trainings, and maintain thorough safety documentation across all construction phases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in construction safety, health, or related field.
• MTA safety training is required.
• Experience on rail construction, transit infrastructure or similar projects.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and enforce site safety policies, procedures, and regulations on rail projects.
• Conduct daily site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and project safety plans.
• Monitor rail construction activities to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Lead toolbox talks, orientations, and ongoing safety training.
• Coordinate with PMs, contractors, and MTA representatives for safe work.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; document findings.
• Maintain safety records, reports, and training documentation.
• Monitor PPE usage and adherence to safety protocols.
• Assist with developing site safety plans and emergency procedures.
• Exercise stop-work authority when hazards are identified.
