Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Senior Engineer, Safety Methods in Bellevue to advance the Natrium Demonstration reactor and support the Sodium Fast Reactor program. The role focuses on developing methods for Licensing Basis Events analyses and collaborating across disciplines to integrate thermal-hydraulic methods with plant design and safety analyses.

The successful candidate will contribute to method development, verification, and validation, leveraging Python/MATLAB workflows and quality assurance

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
• 3+ years of system-level thermal hydraulic modeling experience.
• Experience with RELAP5 3D, GOTHIC, SAS or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with NQA 1 for modeling workflows.
• Strong analytical thinking and clear technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop system-level TH analysis methods and closure models.
• Perform steady-state and transient analyses to characterize model behavior.
• Support method qualification and performance characterization.
• Develop automated workflows for model setup, execution, and post-processing.
• Document methodologies and ensure traceability and reproducibility.
• Work with other disciplines to integrate TH methods with design and safety analyses.
• Apply TerraPower's SQA/NQA1 practices.
