Job summary

TerraPower, a Bellevue, Washington-based nuclear technology company, seeks a Design Lead for Reactor Components on the Natrium project. You will coordinate a diverse engineering team, lead design activities from specification through fabrication, and ensure compliance with ASME Sect III and related standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or related discipline with 10+ years of direct experience in mechanical systems.
• Experience leading mechanical design of complex structures and equipment in high temperature and multi-discipline integration.
• Working knowledge of ASME Sect III Code is highly desired.
• Diverse and robust experience leading mechanical design of complex structures and equipment in high temperature and multi-discipline integration; nuclear experience preferred.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter with ability to coordinate and lead a design team with minimal direction.
• Ability to manage design activities with multiple objectives and constraints and resolve conflicts between objectives.
• Experience working to quality standards on design activities (ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate a geographically diverse design team to develop reactor equipment designs and documentation.
• Lead design activities of integral reactor components from concept to fabrication and assembly.
• Develop analyses (thermal, seismic, structural, creep, shielding) for design validation.
• Review and ensure integration with overall reactor design and project codes of record.
• Interface with vendors, fabricators, and interfaces to ensure manufacturability and assembly criteria.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical direction on deliverables.
• Support licensing activities and regulatory submittals related to safety analyses.
• Plan and manage detailed design schedules across teams and organizations.
