Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the Site-Specific Safety Plan implementation on mining/construction projects. You will drive safety programs, inspect sites, and mentor crews to uphold the highest safety standards.

You will coordinate training, manage incident investigations, and ensure compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations, while collaborating with project teams and stakeholders to create a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or 5+ years of safety management on mining/construction projects.
• CSP and CHST preferred.
• 5 years of safety project experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company's safety programs at the project level and drive a safety-oriented approach.
• Routinely inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Monitor workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees to correct behaviors.
• Plan with operations in the field based on leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Coordinate and deliver safety training on policies, MSHA orientation, and client-specific requirements.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions based on lessons learned.
• Interfacing with MSHA/state officials and ensuring adherence to safety plans and regulations.
