Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Safety Manager for the Mining District. The role focuses on implementing and supporting the Site-Specific Safety Plan in the field, ensuring alignment with client safety expectations, corporate manuals, and MSHA requirements.

You will verify field work, supervise corrective actions, and collaborate with operations to maintain a safe work environment across multiple projects. Relocation to site locations is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field; 5+ years of safety management experience preferred.
• CSP/CHST preferred.
• Experience managing mining or construction safety programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations and hazard recognition.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company's safety programs at the project level and drive a safety-oriented approach.
• Inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Monitor workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach accordingly.
• Plan, prioritize and problem-solve with field operations using leading indicators.
• Coordinate safety training on policies, MSHA orientation and client requirements.
• Interface with MSHA/State inspectors as needed.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
