Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Safety Manager for its Mining District in Arizona to lead safety programs on complex industrial construction projects.

You will conduct hazard assessments, oversee incident investigations, train staff, and ensure compliance with MSHA and OSHA while collaborating with craft workers and regulators on site. Relocation to project sites is expected as work moves and opportunities arise.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field.
• CSP and CHST preferred.
• 5+ years of experience managing mining or construction safety programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations and hazard recognition, record keeping and injury management.
• Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word/Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Willingness to relocate as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company's safety programs at the project level and drive a safety-oriented approach.
• Routinely inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Routinely monitor the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on safe practices.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations in the field based on leading indicator trends.
• Develop and maintain MSHA accident/injury files and training records.
• Coordinate and provide safety training on MSHA policies and client requirements.
• Collaborate with craft workers to promote buy-in to the safety program.
• Interface with MSHA/state inspectors during site visits.
